How do I get a Visa to the United States?Travel visas for the United States are solely determined by U.S. immigration authorities and are not influenced or expedited by CIOFF USA in any way. When groups are accepted to participate in a CIOFF USA festival, the festival organizers can issue an official invitation. This document details the purpose of their travel, helping to clarify their intent to attend the event. However, it's crucial to understand that this invitation does not guarantee visa approval, as the final decision is made by the U.S. consulate or embassy reviewing the application. Therefore, applicants should prepare thorough documentation, including evidence of strong ties to their home country, to demonstrate their intent to return and the purpose of their visit to the United States.

How can I participate in a CIOFF USA Festival?Applications for CIOFF USA festivals are in high demand and highly competitive, resulting in limited opportunities for participation. Most festivals finalize contracts with groups one to two years ahead of time, highlighting the importance of early planning and commitment. To enhance their applications, groups should secure funding, live musicians, and apply for visas promptly. Members in good standing with CIOFF International and their National section receive priority during the festival selection process, which increases their chances of securing spots at prestigious events. This not only strengthens connections within the global CIOFF community but also promotes diverse representation of global heritage, aligning with the mission of CIOFF USA. It is important for interested groups to maintain communication with their National Section CIOFF leadership. This proactive approach ensures that groups stay informed about application timelines and criteria that align with CIOFF International standards and best practices for National CIOFF leadership. While these criteria may vary by festival, groups must adhere to the standards established by CIOFF International.
