The Americana Dance Company (ADC), founded in 2025, is dedicated to the promotion and preservation of American dance and music across diverse styles and traditions. The organization actively engages with the local community by hosting a variety of performances, workshops, and educational programs that celebrate the rich tapestry of American dance forms, from folk and jazz to contemporary.

Additionally, ADC seeks to connect with the global community by participating in international festivals and cultural exchanges, showcasing American dance and music on broader stages. Through these efforts, ADC aims to foster a greater appreciation for the art forms that reflect the cultural heritage of the United States while inspiring future generations of artists and audiences alike.

Director Bio

Dawson & Abby Collins

Dawson and Abby started Americana Dance Company in 2024 after graduating from Brigham Young University (BYU). During their studies, they were members of BYU's International Folk Dance Ensemble (IFDE), directed by Jeanette Geslison. This company learns and performs cultural dances from around the world. Additionally, they represent the USA at CIOFF festivals in the summer under the name American Folk Dance Ensemble. Dawson was a member of IFDE for four years. Prior to his time there, he trained in a variety of dance styles, including ballroom, hip hop, clogging, and tap. Abby grew up training in ballet, contemporary, jazz, tap, and hip hop. When she came to BYU, she joined the Folk Dance program and was able to explore new dance styles. Her three years on IFDE helped her develop a passion for the folk arts.
